Environmental preservation is now more than ever an essential condition for the full functioning of democracy and the rule of law. In an effective democracy, citizen participation, transparency, and accountability in the management of environmental matters are promoted. These principles protect the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment, while also empowering citizens to hold their governments and private actors accountable for environmental damage.<\/p>

In this regard, we participate in various regional initiatives and engage with the organs of the Inter-American Human Rights System (IAHRS) to make applicable standards for natural resource management more accessible. Through specialized studies, the observation of criminal trials against environmental defenders, the submission of amicus curiae briefs, and advocacy before domestic and international bodies, we seek to strengthen the protection and defense of the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment and related human rights.<\/p>

We provide technical support to civil society organizations and social movements fighting to incorporate international standards into state laws and practices regarding environmental management. Furthermore, we contribute to the formation of regional alliances and litigation networks dedicated to defending the land and natural resources of communities impacted by large-scale agricultural, energy, and infrastructure projects, as well as holding accountable those involved in illegal economies that cause severe environmental impacts.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
