Judicial Independence in Ecuador's Judicial Reform process

Ecuador is a country in which the rule of law has not been solidly developed. Because it has been politically unstable throughout its history, those in power have made the justice system part of the political arena. DPLF and 71 other NGOs send letter about judicial independence on El Salvador

In a letter to the El Salvador government, 72 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) expressed their rejection of a recent executive decree that undermines the independence of the Salvadoran judiciary and violates El Salvador's international obligations in these matters. 

"The undersigned organizations urge the Legislative Assembly to abolish Decree No. 743 and to refrain from any attempt to interfere with the independence of the courts or justice operators in El Salvador," the letter states.
