DPLF and other NGOs sent a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urging him to address human rights concerns during his upcoming visit to Mexico. Pompeo is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Friday July 13, with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. This visit comes at a crucial moment, as the transition period between the current and new government in Mexico presents the opportunity for the U.S. to address challenges in strengthening the rule of law and combating corruption, as well as to encourage progress in advancing investigations and prosecutions for human rights violations.
