Eduardo Bertoni

Eduardo Bertoni is an Argentinian attorney and a recognized expert in the field of privacy, technology issues, and rights, with a solid track record in transparency, access to information, and leadership within non-profit organizations. Eduardo joined the board of DPLF in 2020.

His distinguished career has led him to hold significant roles in the promotion of democracy and the protection of fundamental rights. Eduardo served as the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression (RELE) at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) of the Organization of American States (OAS) from 2002 to 2005. He later became the executive director of DPLF from 2006 to 2009. Additionally, Eduardo is the founder and director of the Center for Studies on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information (CELE) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Palermo in Argentina.

Currently, he serves as the Director of Argentina’s Access to Public Information Agency and teaches at the University of Buenos Aires and at New York University School of Law (Global Clinical Professor).

Eduardo holds a Ph.D. from the University of Buenos Aires, as well as a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University. He has written extensively on a wide range of topics, including democracy and human rights, judicial reform, international criminal law, and internet-related issues.
