Gina Kawas joined DPLF in March 2024, working alongside program directors while serving as the principal lead for the grants portfolio.
Before joining DPLF, Gina served as Senior Program Associate for the Migration, Remittances, and Development Program at the Inter-American Dialogue, from August 2022 to June 2023. She was also a researcher at the Wilson Center, focusing on sustainability practices in Honduras.
Previously, she worked as a Program Executive at the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), overseeing operations in sectors such as energy, human development, social infrastructure, rural development, the environment, competitiveness, financial intermediation, and productive infrastructure. Gina was also a research assistant at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, collaborating with the director of the Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Clinic and the executive director of the Innovation and Social Change Initiative at the Center for Public Leadership.
Gina holds a Master’s degree in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from New York University and a Master’s in Public Administration and Public Policy from Harvard University, both in the United States. She previously earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Political Science from the Central American Technological University (UNITEC) in Honduras.
