Defending Land and Territory in Honduras | Report Launch (Hybrid Event)

Report Launch “Our Determination Outweighs Our Fear”: Indigenous peoples and campesino communities fighting for land and territory

Environmental and land defenders are at the frontline of the climate crisis, risking everything to stand up to corporate greed, often in the face of state complicity, threats of violence and widespread criminalisation.

Along with Peace Brigades International UK, Bufete Jurídico Justicia para los Pueblos, and Doughty Street Chambers, we invite you to an exclusive reception and launch of a significant new report by an Independent Delegation of International Lawyers, exposing grave violations against Indigenous peoples and campesino communities in Honduras.

Join us to hear directly from:

Kenia Oliva: Human rights lawyer and Co-Founder of the Bufete Justicia para los Pueblos
Dunia Mahelí Sanchez: Indigenous Lenca human rights defender and member of COPINH
Camila Zapata Besso: Barrister at Doughty Street Chambers
Daniel Cerqueira: Director of Climate Justice & Human Rights Program at the Due Process of Law Foundation (DPLF)

This event will examine the findings of the report, from the criminalisation of defenders to inadequate state intervention and weak legal frameworks, and invite discussion on steps the international community can take to strengthen accountability and protection frameworks for Indigenous and campesino human rights defenders and communities.

Date: Thursday 30, April 2026
Time: 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm (GMT+0)

This is a hybrid event: Register here to join us in person or via Zoom.
